We are now more at ease with regards to our signature bottles… After 7 weeks of searching, we found a supply of bottles to get us through 2009. We’ll see what happens in 2010. We will be switching to a screw top about mid-way through this year and we’d like to know what you think about this. The screw tops are more environmentally-sound while also keeping the bottle cleaner than cork.

The new certified organic Sylverleaf Estate is ready for bottling. We expect to bottle 50 cases in the next week and have the oil for sale in 3 weeks! This oil is in very limited quantities this year. We produced less than 60 gallons (the smallest amount in our history!) of this special oil. The small harvest was simply due to weather conditions on the farm during bloom time coupled with an “off” year (olive trees are alternately bearing; a heavy crop year one year, followed by a light crop the next). We expect a strong bloom this year and, hopefully, a heavy crop on the trees for the next harvest.

On a related note, we are starting the blending process for the 2009 Foothills Blend. We don’t have quite the selection of oils as last year, but the flavors are very good and the quality is superb. We looking at nearly 600 gallons of this blend for the year, so we’re in good shape and able to supply you with this outstanding extra virgin olive oil.

That’s all the news that’s fit to print.
