2007 World Wicket Finals

…for some reason, we played the 2007 finals in 2008!..
After a short but hotly contested regular season of Wicket, we entered the playoffs today. I am highly disappointed to say that Beth is the new, undisputed Champion of the World! She captured the title by the razor thin margin of ONE GAME. To be honest, Beth won 8 of the final 9 games to pull ahead 39 games to my 38. Honorable mentions go out to all of the wicketeers from far and near, especially to those who whipped us on our home course!
What?! You don’t know what Wicket is? This sport is a cross between croquet and miniature golf. Rather than set up the playing field in the traditional double diamond of croquet, we put the wickets (the posts one must put the ball through) in whatever places will make for the most interesting play. In the course of a game, each player must navigate the wickets to get to the post. After hitting the post, the player then turns around and continues the coarse in reverse.
There’s quite a bit more to it, but I’ll save that for another day…
(…beth is the champion…)
