On June 5th, in the small town of Loma Rica, CA a wish came true. A tiny miracle of sorts…

Much to everyone’s surprise (except for me) it RAINED!!! Not just a sprinkle either. It was a good ole-fashioned, thunder, lightning, torrential downpour, flash-flooding and pure energy kinda storm.

It started in the afternoon when the temperature dropped. The winds started changing directions from west to east then back to the west again. The sky in front of us was black and ominous. Behind us, to the east, the sky was also building stormy weather. But above us, wedged in between these two fronts, the sky was just perfect, beautiful and blue. Gene said that there was not going to be any rain here, but I hoped he was wrong. I pleaded with the heavens for rain. Two friends of ours showed up for a visit. We discussed the unlikely chance of rain in June (it never rains in June). Then the UPS man came by with a package. I told him he needed to do a rain dance because my olive trees needed some water. I don’t think he took me very seriously… But, I was serious. After he left, oh did it rain!!!!!!

The Rain’s Pouring Down

At about 6:00 the first rain drops appeared on the glass table top before us. Then the wind REALLY picked up and voilà, instant storm. There were literally dozens of lightning strikes at close range, and it actually tried to hail for just a moment. The four of us sat on the front porch and watched in awe and amazement. My precious olive trees got their water, almost an entire inch in less than two hours.

So, huge thanks to anyone and everyone who was wishing for rain like I was. All that wishing WORKED!
